Photos and First Impressions of the Shooting Sports Center Suhl
Those searching for photos of the Shooting Sports Center Suhl primarily get the impression of a spacious, functional, and very versatile campus. The official website describes the facility as a traditional sports venue on the edge of the arms city of Suhl, surrounded by the greenery of the Thuringian Forest, with many training ranges for Olympic and numerous non-Olympic disciplines. This mix makes the first impression particularly special: Nothing here seems improvised; everything is geared towards structured training, precise processes, and a professional competition operation. At the same time, the facility is used not only for top-level sports but also for club shooters, hunters, training sessions, and corporate events. This creates a lively overall picture that clearly distinguishes it from a pure competition venue. The tourist presentation also emphasizes that Suhl has an internationally significant place in shooting sports, which has been continuously developed since 1971 and used for high-profile competitions. Therefore, anyone wanting to get an idea before a visit should expect a modern, sport-oriented facility well integrated into the landscape. ([sszsuhl.de](https://sszsuhl.de/))
The visual character of the site is also interesting because the Shooting Sports Center is not just a single hall but an ensemble of several areas: air pressure, small caliber, large caliber, clay targets, running targets, hunting, and service are distributed across the grounds. In addition, there are a sports hall, sauna area, weight room, and a directly connected sports guesthouse. This infrastructure shows that the SSZ is designed not only for short visits but also for multi-day training camps and larger events. In the tourist context of Suhl, the facility is also described as a place where history has been made, such as through world championships, world cups, and European championships in various disciplines. This makes the site particularly exciting for photographs, external views, and image impressions because it radiates both sporting rigor and the expansiveness of a large campus facility. Therefore, those specifically searching for photos of the Shooting Sports Center Suhl are actually looking for an image of tradition, precision, and modern sports infrastructure in an open Thuringian Forest landscape. Access, Parking, and Opening Hours
Access to the Shooting Sports Center Suhl is clearly regulated and easy for visitors to follow. The official site plan specifies that for arrival by car, one should take the A73, exit 3 Suhl Friedberg, then drive towards Suhl and follow the signs to the Suhl Friedberg industrial area and the Shooting Sports Center. For public transport, lines G and A/G towards Friedberg are mentioned, with stops at Verlagsgebäude or Hubertusstraße. Particularly convenient: The site plan clearly marks not only the access routes but also the paths to the individual areas, such as the central access, sports and hunting shooting areas, as well as parking areas P1 and P2. This makes the site surprisingly well organized even for first-time visitors. Additionally, the shop is located in the southern complex at the shotgun range, which makes orientation on the grounds easier. ([sszsuhl.de](https://sszsuhl.de/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Flyer_SSZ_04.pdf))
The opening hours are also transparent and geared towards the operation of an active sports facility. According to the official website, the Shooting Sports Center Suhl is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 18:00. For the shotgun area, the longer hours from Tuesday to Saturday are from 09:00 to 18:00, while the zeroing range is available from Tuesday to Saturday from 09:00 to 16:00. The facility is closed on Sundays and Mondays. This structure shows that the SSZ does not operate as a classic event location with daily public operations but as a performance-oriented center with clear training and service windows. Therefore, anyone planning a visit should definitely check the times in advance and inquire in good time for bookings, training, or guest programs. Especially for larger events, team trips, or hunting appointments, planning in advance is advisable, as the facility is regularly reserved for courses, competitions, and organized uses. ([sszsuhl.de](https://sszsuhl.de/))
Shop, Consulting, and Offers for Guests
An important reason for searching around the Shooting Sports Center Suhl is the shop. The official shop page describes a new store on the premises that offers exclusive weapons from the brands Blaser and Browning. The shop is located in the southern complex at the shotgun range, and interested parties can receive advice from professionals there. On request, test shooting for available demo weapons is even possible. This is a real added value for many visitors because consulting, product knowledge, and range use are directly linked. The site is therefore relevant not only for sporting operations but also for the practical selection of equipment and direct testing on-site. Especially for ambitious shooters and hunters, this offers a very sensible connection between product, application, and personal instruction. ([sszsuhl.de](https://sszsuhl.de/en/ssz-suhl-shop/))
Beyond the shop, the Shooting Sports Center offers a wide range for guests, beginners, and experienced shooters. The official site mentions trainer hours, individual units, public shooting, and corporate events as part of the offer. In the shooting training, it is also explained that individual trainer hours are tailored to personal needs and that the facilities can be booked from individuals to clubs. Equally important is the hunting area: The SSZ offers opportunities for preparation for the hunting license, to provide required shooting proofs, and to improve one's own skills. This positions the facility not only as a performance center but also as a place for further education, safe practice, and supervised entries. Especially for users looking for the Shooting Sports Center Suhl shop, booking, or guest shooting, this combination of consulting, range use, and training opportunities is the central added value. The facility thus combines sporting excellence with a strong service-oriented approach. ([sszsuhl.de](https://sszsuhl.de/))
Overview of 10m, 25m, and 50m Ranges
The heart of the Shooting Sports Center is the versatile 10m, 25m, and 50m areas. For air pressure disciplines, depending on group size and competition configuration, the Erich Krempel Hall or the air rifle hall can be used. The Erich Krempel Hall is equipped with 50 electronic SIUS systems, while the air rifle hall on the upper floor of the main building offers additional options for smaller training groups, introductory training, and beginner training. There are 18 cable-operated systems, 11 electronic SIUS systems, and one electronic 10m running target available. This mix of traditional technology and modern electronics makes training flexible and practical. It is particularly noteworthy that both paper targets and electronic targets can be used in the air rifle hall and in the hall without requiring elaborate renovations. This makes the facility suitable for state and federal teams as well as clubs from the surrounding area. ([sszsuhl.de](https://sszsuhl.de/luftdruck-10m/?utm_source=openai))
The SSZ is also exceptionally well equipped in the 25m and 50m areas. For 25m distances, there is the zeroing range as well as a 25m outdoor facility with 8 ranges for Olympic rapid-fire pistol and sport pistol. In winter, the 25m indoor facility in the multipurpose hall is also available, with 5 ranges and 25 individual systems for weather-independent training. In the 50m area, the official presentation mentions an outdoor facility with 95 lanes, of which 80 are equipped with electronic SIUS systems. Additionally, there is the 50m indoor facility in the Erich Krempel Hall with 18 lanes for the winter months, as well as a final range for ISSF-compliant finals. This is an enormous range for a shooting sports center and explains why national and international competitions regularly take place here. Therefore, those searching for Shooting Sports Center Suhl 25m range or Shooting Sports Center Suhl 50m range will find not just a single shooting house but a completely coordinated system of outdoor, indoor, and final options. ([sszsuhl.de](https://sszsuhl.de/kleinkaliber-25m/))
Clay Target Range, Running Target, and Hunting Disciplines
In addition to the bullet disciplines, the shotgun plays a special role in the Shooting Sports Center Suhl. The official shotgun page describes four combined shotgun ranges that can be used year-round for trap and skeet. Between April and October, a compak course is also added on at least one range. This covers both classic sporting disciplines and hunting-related applications. The facility relies on professional organization, such as through the management program Range Master, which supports training and competition operations. For shooters and clubs, this means high reliability in scheduling and facility planning. Especially when searching for Shooting Sports Center Suhl clay target range, this mix of continuous operation, technology, and versatile use is crucial. Furthermore, the shotgun fits very well with the overall profile of the site because performance-oriented sport and hunting-related applications are closely intertwined. ([sszsuhl.de](https://sszsuhl.de/wurfscheibenstaende/?utm_source=openai))
The running target is also firmly part of the facility's profile. According to the official description, running target shooting can be done on two 50m ranges, and the hunting boar stand is approved for all calibers commonly used in hunting in Germany. Additionally, it is possible to train with one's own hunting rifle up to a maximum caliber of 9.3×62, alongside sporting shooting with .22 caliber rimfire rifles. The hit display is done via cameras, and the control allows shooting according to the rules of the hunting associations as well as the ISSF. This clearly shows how strongly the Shooting Sports Center Suhl integrates the needs of hunters and hunting-oriented shooters. In conjunction with the 100m and 25m large caliber ranges, an exceptionally complete hunting and sports-related site emerges. Therefore, those searching for Shooting Sports Center Suhl photos or disciplines should not only think of a classic competition hall but of an entire area with very different target systems, ranges, and usage options. ([sszsuhl.de](https://sszsuhl.de/laufende-scheibe/))
Competitions, History, and Role as a Training Center
The historical and sports-political significance of the Shooting Sports Center Suhl is great. The tourist presentation refers to its opening in 1971 and to numerous high-profile competitions that have taken place here over the decades. Mentioned are, among others, world championships, regular world cups, and European championships in various disciplines. The official website also speaks of more than 50 years of successful shooting sports, of national and international squad athletes, of club shooters, hunters, gunsmiths, hunting schools, and corporate events. This breadth explains why Suhl is so firmly anchored in German and international shooting sports. The center is not just a venue but a place where competitive sports, youth development, and practical application come together. ([suhl-tourismus.de](https://www.suhl-tourismus.de/schiesssportzentrum-suhl/))
Additionally, there is the role as an Olympic, federal, and state training center. The German Shooting Federation describes the Shooting Sports Center Suhl as one of the most well-known, scenically beautiful, modern, and compact shooting sports facilities worldwide. At the same time, it is emphasized that more than 80 events with up to 700 participants take place annually and that the facility is fully accessible for people with disabilities. The training center also has three seminar and conference rooms for 15, 25, and 70 people, Wi-Fi, projectors, and other equipment. For overnight stays, there is a sports guesthouse with catering facilities, as well as 50 beds and two accessible rooms. This infrastructure makes Suhl so strong: Here, one can not only train but also realistically implement complete courses, competitions, and longer stays. The location in Germany, the good highway connections, and the comprehensive facilities together form a package that is ideal for both top-level sports and guest programs and educational offerings. Therefore, those searching for the Shooting Sports Center Suhl address, competitions, or Olympic training center will find a highly professional facility with clear historical continuity and modern performance capability.
Super trap shooting facility, well connected in terms of traffic and with green forest cover in the background, ideal for practicing and troubleshooting. Had a blast again, almost alone and in pretty low temperatures, thick fog. Not great conditions, but a fantastic facility, everything works great! The pigeons move quickly and flexibly into the shooting field in the turbo launcher! The staff is always friendly and helpful! Competitions are well organized and motivating! Good price-performance ratio! Everything is easily reachable on foot. You can also operate the stands with a guest card via the computer. Looking forward to when the investments for this great facility are released... See you soon!
