City Library Suhl | Opening Hours & Fees

The City Library Suhl is a modern meeting place for everyone who wants to read, research, learn, or simply discover media in a quiet atmosphere. Since its grand opening on June 4, 2004, the library has presented itself as a contemporary institution with information, education, and social interaction functions. With a main usage area of 1,600 sqm, it offers around 56,000 media, a clear structure over several levels, and services that go far beyond the classic bookshelf. The opening hours, fees, the online catalog Findus, and visual impressions of the rooms are particularly sought after, as this information helps in quickly planning a visit. The official website also shows current events, services, a tour with pictures, and practical information for registration, interlibrary loan, and digital use. Those visiting the City Library Suhl for the first time will find a well-organized library with friendly service, accessible areas, and a wide-ranging media offering for children, teenagers, and adults. Opening Hours of the City Library Suhl

The opening hours are one of the most important reasons why visitors search for the City Library Suhl, and the official information is clearly structured: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, the library is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Wednesday is closed, as is the Saturday before Easter. Thus, the library is accessible five days a week, with Thursday being particularly practical as a classic visiting day for longer errands. So, if you want to return media, extend something, borrow new titles, or receive advice in peace, you will find several reliable time slots during the week. The website displays the opening hours on the homepage, in the service section, in the registration area, and in the tour section, which conveys the impression of a stable and regularly maintained information page. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/))

For planning a visit, not only the pure time span is important, but also the organizational framework. The City Library Suhl regularly publishes current events such as the reading café, DIY-2gether offers, or digital café dates on the homepage. This shows that the library not only conducts a static lending operation but also functions as a lively event venue. Those who prefer a quiet visit can orient themselves to the regular opening hours while simultaneously checking the website to see if there is an event, a special notice, or a seasonal closure on a particular day. This makes the site particularly valuable for inquiries about opening hours: it not only provides times but also a real practical reference for everyday life. Visitors thus receive a simple basis for the question of when a visit is most worthwhile, for example, for research, children's book selection, media return, or the use of on-site advice. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/))

The location at Bahnhofstraße 10 is also relevant for planning a visit, as the address is clearly stated on all central pages of the library and is therefore quickly findable. Those who wish to visit the City Library Suhl can rely on the same contact basis: Bahnhofstraße 10, 98527 Suhl, Phone 03681 - 743710. This consistency is important because it relieves both new users and regular readers. Instead of searching for a long time, they find the essential key data directly on the website at several points. This is particularly useful for families, students, and older visitors who prefer a clear and reliable overview. The library positions itself as a well-organized public institution that provides the most important visitor information with just a few clicks and makes its accessibility transparent. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/))

Fees, Registration, and Discounts

The fee structure of the City Library Suhl is a central topic for many users, as the library operates with a clear fee model. Adults pay an annual fee for the use of all functional areas, while children and teenagers up to the age of 18 can read and borrow free of charge. According to the fee schedule, the annual card costs 20.00 euros, the half-year card 10.00 euros. Discounted prices are 15.00 euros or 7.50 euros. Additionally, there is a corporate contract for 60.00 euros. This transparent tiering shows that the library considers different user groups and explicitly promotes library use for young people. Especially in the context of families, school classes, and teenagers, this is a strong signal as it keeps access to media low-threshold and practically supports reading promotion. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/anmeldung.html))

The discount system is also well documented on the official pages. A 25% discount is available, among others, for trainees, students, recipients of benefits under SGB II or SGB XII, those on reduced earning capacity pensions, severely disabled individuals with a degree of disability of 50% or more, housing benefit recipients, and federal volunteers. The library also points out that discounts are only granted upon presentation of the corresponding proof and that these documents must be submitted in a timely manner before the start of the user relationship. This makes the regulation comprehensible and prevents misunderstandings when starting a new user account. For schools and educational staff, the use of the media center is free of charge, which further underscores the educational mission of the institution. The City Library Suhl is thus not only a lending facility but also a public learning and working environment with socially tiered fees. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/images/PDF/EntgeltO_Stadtbuecherei.pdf))

Regarding registration itself, the library outlines a classic yet clear process: those who wish to use the City Library must register by presenting their ID. Children and teenagers under 18 need the written consent of their legal representative or a signature on the registration form. The user contract is established for the specified period, and after that, a fee will be charged again for renewed use. Additionally, the fee schedule informs about other cost points such as interlibrary loan including postage for 5.00 euros, the reissue of a user card for 3.00 euros, copies at 0.70 euros per A4 page, and late fees of 0.50 euros per medium and opening day from the first day after the return date, up to a maximum of 30.00 euros. These regulations give users security because they know the most important costs before their first visit. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/anmeldung.html))

It is particularly interesting that the City Library Suhl does not only understand its use as a pure lending service but as a comprehensive service offering. The documents for registration and the user regulations make it clear that the account can also be used for reservations, extensions, and digital offerings. The fee schedule and the registration information thus interlock and create a uniform basis for all user groups. Especially those looking for fees, registration, or costs for individual services will find an astonishingly clear structure in Suhl: free for children and teenagers up to 18, discounted models for certain groups, comprehensible rates for additional services, and a transparent regulation for delays or replacements. For search engines, this clarity is a strong signal because it makes the relevance for inquiries around fees, registration, and user regulations very high. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/anmeldung.html))

Findus, Online Catalog, E-Lending, and Interlibrary Loan

A particularly important keyword is Findus, as the City Library Suhl explicitly refers to the WEB-OPAC Findus as an electronic catalog for inventory information in its services. The online catalog is thus the central entry point for anyone looking to research media, check availability, or browse their library's inventory before visiting. The user regulations also describe that the online catalog is accessible via the website and not only allows research in the inventory but also extensions, reservations, and access to the personal user account. These functions make Findus so useful in everyday life: users save trips, can check at home whether a title is available, and organize their borrowing much more efficiently. For many users, this is the decisive difference between a traditional library and a modern, digital service facility. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/angebot/154-serviceleistung-2.html))

Additionally, the City Library Suhl offers the lending of electronic media through ThueBIBnet, the Thuringian online library. This is particularly convenient for anyone who wants to use e-books, digital media, or time-independent offerings. The user regulations explicitly mention that registration for this can also be done online via the City Library's website. This expands the library's classic location with a digital layer that works from home and significantly facilitates access to media. It is also visible on the homepage and service pages that the library takes digital orientation seriously, for example, through references to e-lending, digital compass, or digital event formats. So, if you search for City Library Suhl Findus, you are essentially looking for a modern access to the inventory, and this access is offered by the library in a clear, user-friendly form. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/images/PDF/BenutzO_Stadtbuecherei.pdf))

Another important function is the interlibrary loan. According to the website, the City Library Suhl can procure media that are not available in its own inventory. Through the Joint Union Catalog GVK or the Union Catalog of Public Libraries ÖVK, users can research themselves and submit their requests via email with their user number. The usual delivery time is two to three weeks. This is particularly valuable for specialized literature, specific titles, older editions, or rare works. The fee schedule states a price of 5.00 euros for the interlibrary loan including postage, and the user regulations make it clear that the order itself is also chargeable, even if a medium is not picked up later. This creates a reliable, orderly service with clear rules. For people who need to research deeply or rely on special literature, interlibrary loan is often the decisive component of the overall offering. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/fernleihe.html?utm_source=openai))

Digital support also includes reservations, extensions, and the personal user account, which is accessible via the online catalog. The services explicitly mention assistance in using the e-lending, reservation services, interlibrary loan services, PC workstations with internet access, and a presence inventory with reference works and collections of laws. This makes it clear that the City Library Suhl not only provides media but also helps with handling media. This mix of analog orientation and digital research is a crucial SEO factor today because many users specifically search for these practical functions. Those who want to know how Findus works, how to extend online, or how to reserve media will find in the Suhl library a modern system with clear processes and a noticeable focus on user-friendliness. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/angebot/154-serviceleistung-2.html))

Tour, Rooms, and Media Offering

The tour of the City Library Suhl clearly shows how the library is spatially organized, and this makes the page particularly relevant for inquiries about photos, seating, or room layout. The first point of contact is the checkout desk on the ground floor. There, new visitors can register, borrow, and return media. The ground floor also houses the foyer with lockers, magazines, board games, the book flea market, and Tonie figures. The basement contains adult literature, while music CDs, feature films for adults, and media for teenagers can be found on the first floor. The children's library is located on the second floor and offers a separate world for young and older readers. The makerspace is located on the third floor. This clear floor structure makes the visit intuitive and significantly eases orientation on-site. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/rundgang.html))

The library is not only functional but also carefully tailored to different user needs. The homepage describes it as a contemporary and modern library with transparent and flexible interior design, comfortable seating, and user-friendly workspaces. Additionally, it is emphasized that all functional areas are well accessible for wheelchair users due to the barrier-free design. This is an important feature for families, older people, school classes, and all visitors who value accessibility. Particularly interesting is also the basement with the quiet and nursing area, which is accessible by elevator and equipped with a changing table, armchair, nursing pillow, bottle warmer, wet wipes, and diapers. Such details show that the City Library Suhl thinks very practically and also creates a pleasant environment for families with small children. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/))

The actual media inventory is sensibly distributed across the floors. In the basement, users find non-fiction and specialized literature, novels, travel and adventure reports, regional literature about South Thuringia, audiobooks, mobi-audiosticks, CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, non-fiction DVDs, Blu-Rays, the media center for films for teaching and training, as well as user workstations with internet access. On the first floor, CDs and DVDs for teenagers and adults, console games for Nintendo Wii, DS, 3DS, Switch, and Playstation 4, as well as the freestyle section with novels and non-fiction books for teenagers from about 12 years old are available. The second floor bundles books, music CDs, audiobooks, radio plays, DVDs, and computer games for children. The makerspace on the third floor complements the offering with a space for creative work. This results in a media profile that is very diverse and appeals to different age groups. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/rundgang.html))

The numbers further underscore the size of the library: the homepage mentions around 56,000 various media that are professionally housed. Additionally, the library refers to its award with the Thuringian Library Prize from the Sparkassen Cultural Foundation Hessen-Thuringia in 2007. Together with the opening in 2004, this creates the image of an institution that has established itself as a modern public library in a short time. So, if you are looking for equipment, room layout, media offerings, or photos, you will find in the City Library Suhl a convincing mix of practical orientation and spatial quality. The website clearly conveys that there are not only books here but a structured learning and stay landscape with many small, well-thought-out details. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/))

Photos, Events, and Special Offers

The keyword photos is closely linked to the tour and the image galleries on the City Library Suhl's website. The library presents several images and a guided tour through the individual floors, allowing interested parties to get a visual impression even before their visit. This is the fastest way for many users to assess the atmosphere, room structure, and media areas. Especially in public institutions, the first impression counts strongly, and the Suhl library uses its images purposefully to show clarity, brightness, and usability. At the same time, the images create an authentic impression that builds trust: readers see not just an abstract catalog but a real, modern library environment with foyer, shelves, children's area, technology zones, and quality of stay. For inquiries about photos, this is an important signal because the website not only informs but also makes things tangible. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/rundgang.html))

Another special area is the events. The homepage regularly announces dates such as DIY-2gether, reading café, and digital café. The current entries show that the City Library Suhl takes its role as a cultural place seriously and offers learning and leisure formats that appeal to different target groups. The reading café invites discussion about books, while DIY formats create creative participation offers, and digital cafés provide practical digital assistance. This makes the library a place where media use, encounters, and further education intersect. Those searching for City Library Suhl photos are often interested not only in rooms but also in atmosphere and usage situation. Exactly here, the event announcements help because they show how lively the place is in everyday life. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/))

The services are also an important part of the overall picture. The library offers personal advice in all areas, guided tours through the literature and media offerings, introduction to library use for kindergarten groups and school classes, assistance in using the e-lending, reservation services, interlibrary loan services, PC workstations with internet access, and a presence inventory with reference works and collections of laws. This makes the library relevant not only for individuals but also for groups and educational institutions. Particularly convincing is that the website does not hide these offers but communicates them openly. This is helpful for parents, teachers, students, and anyone looking for a concrete benefit. Additionally, the support association shows that the library is also locally anchored and actively supported. The website mentions the support association, its purpose, and even the annual contribution of 6.00 euros. This makes it clear that the library is not only managed but also supported by civic engagement. ([stadtbuecherei-suhl.de](https://www.stadtbuecherei-suhl.de/angebot/154-serviceleistung-2.html))

A special highlight is the regional literature. According to the website, the inventory includes about 9,000 media on Thuringia, especially on South Thuringia and the city of Suhl. A large part is available for borrowing, while older, rare, and valuable items can be viewed in the rooms. This is not only interesting for local research or regional education but also gives the library a clear profile in the local context. Together with the events, the modern room concept, the barrier-free equipment, and the visual impressions, a strong overall picture emerges: the City Library Suhl is a library that connects classical reading culture, digital services, and local identity very well. So, if you are looking for a location with real usability, honest atmosphere, and clear information, you will find here a place with substance and good service. At the same time, the images create an authentic impression that builds trust: readers see not just an abstract catalog but a real, modern library environment with foyer, shelves, children's area, technology zones, and quality of stay. For inquiries about photos, this is an important signal because the website not only informs but also makes things tangible.

The place is amazing. There's a lot of books to choose from and you get the library card for free if you're under 18! I highly recommend.

The city library is by far the best thing about Suhl. A modern, well-maintained building with a quiet, pleasant atmosphere. A good selection of diverse media. New acquisitions are constantly being added, including many bestsellers. The staff is friendly, competent, and helpful. The library's website allows you to find items, add them to a wish list, and even reserve them. You can see online whether an item is available or currently checked out.

What a fantastic library!!! Such a large children's section and so child-friendly in general. There was even a changing table with diapers. I've never seen that before. We were visiting Suhl and can say that there isn't such a cozy, well-stocked library in Leipzig. Absolutely wonderful 💛
