Hardholz brings East German Heavy Metal to Zella-Mehlis

On October 17, 2026, the Da Capo community room in Zella-Mehlis will transform into a meeting point for fans of powerful guitar music: Hardholz will take the stage at the Da Capo Session. The Thuringian heavy metal band combines German lyrics, distinctive riffs, dual lead guitars, and an energetic stage performance.

Four Decades of Metal History with Thuringian Roots

Hardholz was formed in the early 1980s from the hard and blues rock band Orakel. Their first public performances followed at Easter 1984. Even then, the band combined their own compositions with international hard rock and metal classics. With the addition of a second lead guitarist in 1986, the characteristic sound shaped by twin-guitar arrangements developed.

In the GDR, Hardholz made a name for itself with radio productions, television appearances, and regional concerts. Titles like Tannhäuser reached second place on the GDR charts, and Asphaltlady made it into the top 5. Wieland der Schmied and Mystic Dream were also successfully placed in the then-rating broadcasts. A tour to Poland with a performance in front of more than 10,000 people is one of the notable milestones in the band's history.

Heavy Metal Meets Thrash and Folk Metal

The current Hardholz sound is characterized by hard guitar riffs, powerful drums, and elaborate twin-guitar solos. Influences from heavy metal, thrash metal, and folk metal are combined with German lyrics that draw on everyday life, mythology, and folklore. Acoustic instruments and quieter passages create contrasts to the massive sound and add additional dynamics to the arrangements.

The live atmosphere arises from the interplay of precise synchronization, a powerful rhythm section, and visible stage performance. Hardholz represents a concert experience where sound, light, and audience mood intertwine closely. After German reunification, the band took a long break, returned to the stage in 2014, and released the album Herzinfarkt with Massacre Records in 2016.

An Evening for Fans of Authentic Guitar Music

The Da Capo Session offers the opportunity to experience an important band of East German heavy metal in an intimate club atmosphere. Amidst powerful riffs, melodic guitar lines, and German vocals, an evening filled with character, history, and musical energy unfolds.

Conclusion: Hardholz brings the metal history of Thuringia live to Zella-Mehlis on October 17, 2026. Those who love traditional guitar music, strong melodies, and uncompromising live sound will experience an evening full of pressure, passion, and nostalgia at the Da Capo community room.
