Scottish Sound Worlds in St. Johannis Church Schleusingen
On October 24, 2026, the Sondershausen Pipes & Drums will bring Scottish bagpipe music and Scottish-Irish folklore to the St. Johannis Church in Schleusingen. The church space provides an impressive backdrop for a concert where traditional melodies, precise drum rhythms, and the characteristic sound of the Great Highland Bagpipe come together.
Bagpipes, Drums, and Folk with Distinctive Sound
The Sondershausen Pipes & Drums focus on traditional bagpipe music as well as Scottish and Irish folk music. Their repertoire combines bagpipes and percussion with an energetic stage performance. The band was founded in 1999 and has been present at concerts and cultural events in Thuringia for many years.
Live Atmosphere Between Church Walls
In the St. Johannis Church, the concentrated power of the bagpipe meets the natural acoustics of a sacred space. Long sound lines, driving snare drums, and distinctive bass drum beats create a unique audience atmosphere. The orchestration of pipe band music thrives on synchronization, dynamics, and the interplay between flowing melodies and rhythmic forward momentum.
Scottish-Irish Folklore for Multiple Generations
The concert is aimed at everyone who appreciates traditional music, regional culture, and extraordinary live experiences. Children and young people up to 18 years of age receive free admission. Tickets in advance can be obtained at Hermas Optik.
Conclusion: A Concert with Distinctive Sound
The Sondershausen Pipes & Drums promise an atmospheric evening full of bagpipe sounds, folk melodies, and powerful drum passages. Anyone wanting to experience Scottish-Irish music live should mark this concert at the St. Johannis Church in Schleusingen on their calendar.
